Since its 110 degrees outside in July, why not escape the heat with a tour through the majestic Canadian Rockies ending at the world-famous Calgary Stampede Rodeo? How about a golf vacation at some of Canada's renowned courses along the way?
Comfortable daytime temperatures and perfect greens make golfing in Canada the perfect summer destination. You may choose to begin your experience in Vancouver, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Include a sightseeing tour of Vancouver by viewing the Capilano Suspension Bridge, followed by Stanley Park, Canada's own urban rainforest, the waterfront and Gastown, a turn-of-the century center featuring pubs, art galleries and the famous steam-powered clock.
From Vancouver, you may board VIA Rail's The Canadian and relive the old days of train travel as you are rocked to sleep in your private accommodations. Imagine awakening to the peaks of the Monashee Mountains, the beautiful sight of Pyramid falls. Experience 360-degree views of the Albreda Icefields. See the mountain goats, moose, caribou and bear that call this wonderland home.
You may choose to settle in at a luxurious hotel such as the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Highlights in Jasper may include a trip to Maligne Canyon and a cruise on the picture-perfect sparkling waters of Maligne Lake.
Do not miss Lake Louise and journey along the amazing Icefields Parkway. This is a sight you will not see in the desert. Waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks and snowcapped peaks abound.
Stop at Athabasca Falls before continuing to the Columbia Icefields, where you will ride across a mass of glacial ice more than 1,000 feet thick. This is the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel features some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world .
As you make your way to Banff, visit the spectacular Moraine Lake and the awe-inspiring Valley of the Ten Peaks. Upon arrival in charming Banff, see the powerful Bow Falls and Land of the Sleeping Giants.
The Grand Finale of the tour is arrival in Calgary for the world's largest rodeo.
The Calgary Stampede. Originating in 1912, the Calgary Stampede features an authentic Native North American village, various exhibits, and entertainment. See the annual rodeo show and enjoy reserved seating for a great view of the Chuckwagon Races and musical entertainment. What a way to "beat the heat" in July!
